Summary

A laugh-out-loud, slice-of-life martial-arts fantasy about 。 。 。 farming????

Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator。 A man powerful enough to defy the heavens。 A master of martial arts。 A lord of spiritual power。 Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body。

As Jin, I’m a man of the earth。 A wielder of shovels and lord of rice and wheat。 And sure, I also had to die and get pulled into another universe to end up here。 But guess what? I’m starting to think it was worth it。

I’ve somehow managed to get away from it all。 Finally free of the bloodshed of cultivator fights, I figure I’ll live in the slow lane from here on out, my only real concern the rain—or lack thereof。

Unfortunately, I’ve suddenly got a shady organization looking for me, my cat has gone off to fight in a martial arts tournament, and my chicken has uncovered an ancient crystal containing portents of doom。 You know, the usual stuff。

I’m not worried though。 Sometimes trouble finds you。 And while I may not be a master cultivator 。 。 。 trouble should know better than to mess with a farmer。

The third volume of the blockbuster progression-fantasy series—with more than 20 million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1/2 The story is getting better and better, if you haven't tried this at least at the time it was written it is the most subscribed to web novel on Patron, and I can see why。 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1/2 The story is getting better and better, if you haven't tried this at least at the time it was written it is the most subscribed to web novel on Patron, and I can see why。 。。。more

The previous volume (to be split into two parts upon official publication) ended with quite an emotional roller-coaster。 The fact that this one has far lower stakes feels like there's a vacuum of sorts。 Kind of like how I felt playing video games the day after exams, and remembering that I'm no longer doing it to put off studying, which felt strange。Yes, the second and third (or third and fourth, however they end up being published) volumes contrast a lot。 There is discovery in this one。 And rev The previous volume (to be split into two parts upon official publication) ended with quite an emotional roller-coaster。 The fact that this one has far lower stakes feels like there's a vacuum of sorts。 Kind of like how I felt playing video games the day after exams, and remembering that I'm no longer doing it to put off studying, which felt strange。Yes, the second and third (or third and fourth, however they end up being published) volumes contrast a lot。 There is discovery in this one。 And revelations。 A lot of hitherto information that's been hidden from other characters (and in some cases the reader as well) is being brought to light。 I dare say the wholesome moments between the cornucopia of characters have taken second place to the characters learning stuff about Jin, the place they inhabit, Jin's strange grandfatherly mentor, and maybe even one of the animals (that last one might not be in the book, but disclosed in advance on the author's Discord server)。With the low stakes and easy resolution of this volume's grand conflict, compared to the last book, this one feels like filler。 It's not really; more like a preparation for many adventures to come (I'm curious how the author is going to juggle so many parallel plots in future volumes)。 But even if it were filler, where characters would just interact with each other, play games, build things, and have fun, this is exactly the appeal of this series, so what the heck。 And there's plenty of that in this volume, in addition to paving the way for some more classic cultivation stories。 。。。more

There's a lot I liked, but between the character bloat and drastically slower pace, I found myself skim reading more and more。 There's a lot I liked, but between the character bloat and drastically slower pace, I found myself skim reading more and more。 。。。more
